This approach increases access to services and resources for people experiencing homelessness, including case management, homeless prevention, connection to mental health services, mail services, connections to housing and more. The MAC serves as an extension of the Homeless Services Bureau, including REACH, Homeless Outreach Services and the MSC. ![]() The Mobile Access Center (MAC) vehicle is a new form of street outreach that allows staff to begin the intake process on the street with people experiencing homelessness beyond the City's Multi-Service Center (MSC). The REACH teams consist of a mental health clinician, public health nurse and outreach worker who are going out and engaging people around their complex mental and physical health needs and getting people engaged with longer term care. The City has created three specialized teams called Restorative Engagement to Achieve Collective Health (REACH). Then, they partner with each individual to access housing, employment, medical care, mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and other services. Our Outreach staff works to build trust with those experiencing homelessness first by helping to meet some of their basic needs (including food, clothing, showers, laundry, transportation, identification, etc.). Based on vulnerability, persons are classified and connected to housing resources via the Coordinated Entry System (CES). The goal is to provide housing to those who need it. These outreach goals are met by meeting people where they are in order to build relationships and by establishing creative community partnerships that eliminate barriers to services.
